Rocktoberfest 2019

Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Cherry Point had its annual Rocktoberfest event for all military personnel in Havelock, North Carolina. This event consists of Octoberfest games, food, beer, and a killer Rock concert to thank and boost morale for America’s finest.

This year’s bill featured Adelita’s Way and the 90’s grunge legend, Candlebox.

Adelita’s Way was first on the bill, opening up with “What It Takes,” one of their singles released this year. The performance they gave was well-received among the Marines and Sailors on base with their heavy sound and the themes that “Still Hungry,” “War,” and “Stay Ready” have that fuel and motivate any war-fighter. Throughout their set, while interacting with the crowd, they were most humble and grateful about who they were performing for.

Candlebox finished the night with an hour and a half set, playing their first album’s canon. Fans were ecstatic, and Kevin, Candlebox lead singer, was great about interacting throughout the performance by signed things, shaking hands, telling jokes, he even borrowed a jacket and took a shot to brace the coldish North Carolina weather. Finally, the second to last song, they performed everyone’s favorite, “Far Behind,” and everyone was urged to put their phones away and just be in the moment and enjoy it.

Both bands are in the process of producing new albums, expected to release in February. Follow both bands on their social media for tour dates, release news, and to get in on their crowdfunding campaign!
