Otherwise release their fourth studio album, Defy.

Otherwise, with brothers Adrian Patrick (lead vocals), Ryan Patrick (backup vocals and lead guitarist), Brian Medeiros (drums), and Tony Carboney (bass and backup vocals) along with Mascot Records released the band’s new studio album November 8, 2019. This is their fourth studio release and features a nice array of tunes. I found the album to be very easy to listen to and not much different than what I have come to expect from them. They are a solid band, and they make music that is easily relatable, always entertaining, and with just enough edge.

The songs that stood out to me the most were the first two songs on the album “Bad Trip” and “Money”. The drums really steal the show in “Bad Trip”. The vocals and guitar mesh well with the drums and create a very upbeat song that will have you rocking out. “Money” is one of those songs where the lyrics can really take a person back to points in their life. I found myself relating and kind of laughing at how well he nailed those feelings I myself had felt many throughout my life. Only life experience can make you truly appreciate a song like that.

The rest of the album is pretty good. I didn’t find myself blown away by any one song, but I wasn’t impressed either. The band has grown and has shifted through members, and you can tell from this release that they are in a good place in their career and are only going to go uphill from here.

The band just headed out on the road to tour with Blacktop Mojo, so check them out if they are near your town. Tour dates and locations can be found at the band’s website www.otherwisemusic.com. The album can be purchased at their website as well, or from platforms like iTunes.

I give this album a 7.5 out 10
