World's Loudest Month Featured Artist Starset

Sci-fi rock band Starset are in for a busy 2017 being slotted for multiple festival dates and their own headlining tour.

On Jan. 20, the sci-fi rock band released their second full-length album Vessels. The guys are staying true to their space themed roots and continuing with their “demonstrations” across North America.

What makes this group so unique is not only the sound that they produce, but the backstory of front man Dustin Bates. Bates is a former employee of NASA, and in 2015 spoke with Loudwire about how technology and space tie into the group’s dynamic.

“Technology certainly was one of the main backbones of what Starset is about, but there are other elements to it and that’s by design,” said Bates at Loudwire 2015.

Bates wants his fans to have a reaction to their music by paying attention to their diverse style. We wanted people to pay attention. “We wanted to entertain [fans] so that we could inevitably get the rest of our message out,” said Bates.

“We had a second goal of bringing some others in further, and as a songwriter, I wanted to connect with people in addition to the technological aspect to the music.”

You can catch Starset on their upcoming shows at Fort Rock in Fort Myers, F.L., Welcome to Rockville in Jacksonville, F.L. and Carolina Rebellion in Concord, N.C.
