It was a gorgeous, bright, sunny day in Southeastern Wisconsin for the WIIL Rock Fest at Franksville Memorial Park. Twenty-nine bands total, four different stages, along with many vendors and a large beverage tent, provided fans with everything they needed for an incredible day. The first band, Romantic Rebel, kicked the festival off at 10:15 am on the Jager Stage.

The mobile Jager stage hosted eight of the bands, including Romantic Rebel and Red Sun Rising (who just released a new album Polyester Zeal). Red Sun Rising, fronted by Mike Protich, has the distinction of getting better every time I see them play. Art of Dying singer Johnny Hetherington was joined by Adam Gontier on stage for a song. Devour The Day was impressive with the strong vocals from Blake Allison and Joey Chicago powerful on the bass. The band Aranda impressed me even though they were missing Dameon Aranda on the guitar due to an illness. Royal Bliss was a true crowd favorite with everyone singing along. Emphatic played some of the crowd’s favorite songs including Get Paid and Bounce. Saving Abel, featuring singer Scotty Austin, packed in the entire crowd for their performance.

WIIL Rock Stage hosted crowd-favorite Another Lost Year as well as Failure Anthem, 3 Years Hollow, and Psychostik who closed out the long show.

The Road Rage Stage hosted the bands The Brighter Side, The Complication, American Zeros, Dayrollers, Screaming For Silence, City Of The Weak, Three Left, Imperial Fall, Cabellion, and They Never Say No.

The main stage included Ohio based band Starset , Texas Hippie Coalition, who was on the road supporting their Smoking Hot Tour, Butcher Babies with Heidi Shepherd and Carla Cotes -Jumping all over the stage. The band Nonpoint killed it with a super strong set that left the crowd wanting more. Adam Gontier and Corey Lowery stole the show with Saint Asonia. Pop Evil entertained the crowd playing some songs off the new album UP, and Hollywood Undead finished strong with a super energetic set.

The WIIL Rock Fest was a very well run. The bands times were clearly posted and they were on time all day so fans knew what to expect when and where. Great music, warm sunshine, and cold beverages, what more could any music fan want?W
