Westward’s Single The Last Stand

Cowboy Space Rock band Westward hails from Salt Lake City. They are Andrew Marshall on guitar and vocals, Karl Grimm on bass and backup vocals, and Matt Morrison on drums. They debuted their first album in 2015 and since then they have gotten many accolades, including the following:

  • Played Local Brews and Blues at the House of Blues, Las Vegas

  • Played at the renowned Indie Lounge at the Sundance Film Festival

  • Played The Utah Arts Festival and Craft Lake City

  • Partnered with the Utah Jazz of the NBA for a charity event to benefit underprivileged children

  • Participated in fundraising activities for a humanitarian trip to Guatemala

Empire Of Deception, the latest release from Westward, will be available October 14, through Bandcamp and Amazon. There are a couple singles available on those sites already, including “The Last Stand”.

The band has a clean and epic sound. Their music is synth-laden in places, the guitars sounding like something from outer space. “The Last Stand” has kind of a Muse meets Rush sound to it. The singer has an interesting vocal range, hitting those higher notes in a way that doesn’t make you cringe.

For a band still young, Westward has a big sound that is great to listen to. They’ve honed their sound some since their 2015 release, The Deadly Rapture of Space. While that album is worth a listen, the vocals on the new album are so much better.

Fans of Muse, Queen, Rush, and The Killers will find joy and happiness in this sound. The current single, “The Last Stand”, is a high-quality song worth listening to, definitely a five-star rating. The band knows their instruments and knows their genre well. This song will have you wishing it was mid-October already.
