Von Strantz’s Apple Of Your Eye

Von Strantz’s Apple Of Your Eye

Von Strantz’s Apple Of Your Eye was recorded back-to-back with It’s Just Craig’s Dark Corners. While being recorded by John Vanderslice is about the only connection these two bands have, it still seemed worth mentioning.

What is even more worthy of mention is the background of this band, Von Strantz. It’s a short story, but a really interesting one. See, these two sisters were estranged at birth and they were both brought up in different worlds, across the country from one another. After finally meeting one another they decided, in 2013, to form a band. Von Strantz is their familial name. Cool story, right?

This is their sixth release from the sisters and it is filled with beautifully rendered tunes that can be defined as experimental folk music. They have a unique sound, with vocals that don’t sound like your typical female fronted band. They integrate interesting sounds into their songs, which gives them something really unique with this type of music.

The songs each tell stories. Both women have different vocal ranges, and they blend together beautifully on harmonies. This music is extremely intriguing. You’ll hear some pop-sensibilities within, but it’s so much more.

If you have been itching for something new and unique, this is the album, the band, for you. There are so many sounds, so much to listen to. The stories the songs tell are interesting, and listening to the creativity of these sisters is inspiring.
