Veilside’s Eclipse

Veilside's Eclipse

Veilside is described as a “modern melodic rock” band, hailing from Chicago since 2006. Their first full album, Eclipse, released late 2017. This is a great listen, and I found myself listening to it over and over without it getting old. With its hard guitar and drums, it was a great album to listen on a commute to keep me alert, but not hard enough to bring out road rage.

“Wash Rinse Repeat” is the first track to give you a great sample of the band’s sound. Coming in strong just after the “Eclipse” melodic intro, this song was full of great energy and showed off each band members strengths. Lead singer Tony Engel gives the song a deep guttural voice, and the guitar shreds and stretches throughout the track.

“Blood is Boiling” is another song that stands out on the album. This is one of those songs that instantly you sing along with its hook of “I can feel it.”

“The Loss Forgotten” was another track I enjoyed. The intro immediately reminded me of “Wanted Dead of Alive” by Bon Jovi.

Closing the album, “Crawl Back to You” adds a blues element with a harmonica, driving home the feel of the song of feeling lonely. The guitar mimics the harmonica and the drums are present throughout the track, giving it unique heavy rock-blues hybrid sound.

Eclipse is a great album, and Veilside has a great sound. If you like heavy rock, you’ll like Veilside, and their latest album is a great one to discover their sound. You can find all their information on their website at www.veilsideband.com
