UGLY KID JOE – Uglier Than They Used Ta Be

UGLY KID JOE – Uglier Than They Used Ta Be

It’s been a long nineteen year wait for a new full length Ugly Kid Joe Album, and it was well worth the wait. Uglier Than They Used Ta Be is full of energetic clever lyrics, excellent guitar riffs and Crane’s soothing voice.

Ugly Kid Joe is: Whitfield Crane (vocals), Klaus Eichstadt (guitar), Sonny Mayo (guitar), Shannon Larkin (drums), Zac Morris (drums), Cordell Crockett (bass) and Dave Fortman (guitar). They were joined by MOTÖRHEAD guitarist Phil Campbell who made a special guest appearance on “Ace Of Spades”, “My Old Man”, and “Under The Bottom”. Australian Rocker Dallas Frasca joined Crane on “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone”.

“Hell Ain’t Hard To Find” is the star of the album with “She’s Already Gone” and “Enemy” close behind. The story told by “Let The Record Play” is clever and addictive to listen to. Songs vary throughout the entire Album “Under The Bottom” is one of the heaviest on Uglier Than They Used Ta Be, with “Nothing Ever Changes” more on the mellow side. In all it’s a solid album that I can’t stop listening to.

Ugly Kid Joe recently went on a U.K. tour which finished up late September. I haven’t caught a live show since July 4th 2013 and I’m hoping they tour North America in 2016.
