U2: SONGS OF EXPERIENCE OUT TODAY ON INTERSCOPE RECORDS

“Reaffirms the sound that has been filling arenas and stadiums for decades.”—THE NEW YORK TIMES

“A thrilling listen… not so much a return to their roots as a modern expedition across their vast reservoir of sounds and themes.”—THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

“U2’s latest finds the band coming to terms with a world closer to the brink than at any time during their career. They meet the moment with precisely the right balance of grandeur and grace… manifests the music’s eternal magic, delivered by a band that refuses to let it fade.”—ROLLING STONE

“U2’s best album in years, with the band using their signature, sweeping rock anthems largely to assure listeners that, in a world of chaos, everything’s going to be okay… There’s a palpable joy that runs through Songs of Experience… it’s exciting to hear a band famous for their rafters-swinging rock serving it up in its most direct form.”—USA TODAY

“Their best since How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb… a remarkable accomplishment for a band in its fifth decade of existence… The musicianship is impeccable throughout…  The Edge turns in one of the greatest performances of his storied career… at a time when most of their one-time contemporaries have either given up or should, they’re still stretching, yearning…”—VARIETY

(December 1st, 2017) Already hailed as a triumph in early critical notices, Songs of Experience, the 14th studio album from U2, is released today by Interscope Records in the U.S. on CD, vinyl, digital download and across streaming platforms.

Songs of Experience’s release has been heralded by first single “You’re The Best Thing About Me,” as well as album tracks “American Soul” and “Get Out of Your Own Way,” and “The Blackout,” the latter recently released as a special Record Store Day limited edition 12” vinyl single on Third Man Records. Pre-orders of the deluxe version of the album will also receive the Kygo remix of “You’re The Best Thing About Me.”

U2 will celebrate Songs of Experience’s release with a December 2 performance on Saturday Night Live.

Produced by Jacknife Lee and Ryan Tedder, with Steve Lillywhite, Andy Barlow and Jolyon Thomas, the album features a cover image by Anton Corbijn of band members’ teenage children Eli Hewson and Sian Evans.

Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. will take the new material on the road on the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour beginning in North America in May 2018. Just as Songs of Experience serves as a companion piece to 2014’s Songs of Innocence, the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour will serve as a sequel to 2015’s iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE Tour which saw “U2 reinvent the arena show” (Rolling Stone) and was named the #1 concert of 2015 by The New York Times. With demand for tickets necessitating second dates in Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Montreal, New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC, the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour will kick off on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 in Tulsa OK at the BOK Center.
