THIEVERY CORPORATION Announce Two DC-area Performances with 22 Piece Orchestra on May 15th
On May 15, 2017, THIEVERY CORPORATION will be performing two very special shows in Washington, DC at the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (2700 F Street, NW Washington, DC 20566).  Accompanied by a 22 piece orchestra conducted by Teddy Abrams, Thievery Corporation’s Eric Hilton and Rob Garza will be working with Kennedy Center Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates and a host of young composers to create a symphonic/electronic presentation of the classic Thievery Corporation sound.  Two performances – an early show at 7:00pm and a late show at 9:30pm will punctuate the night.

Eric Hilton says of the extraordinary honor:

“This honor is also an incredible opportunity to stretch the bounds of our music with 22 virtuoso players and perform in the famed Kennedy Center Concert Hall. To go from where we started as 2 young guys with limited gear in a make-shift studio to receiving this type of opportunity and recognition is truly a highlight in our career.”
For this monumental concert, Thievery Corporation will perform music from their diverse catalogue, including music highlighting their bossa nova influences, as well as brand-new arrangements commissioned from today’s leading young classical composers. Mason himself joins them to kick off the evening with his instrumental/electronica work The Rise of Exotic Computing.

Tickets are limited and are available at http://bit.ly/KCThievery

Infused with the culture and rhythm of Jamaica, Thievery Corporation’s latest album The Temple of I & I is an extension of the dub ethos and aesthetic that they’ve harbored since their debut EP Sounds from Thievery Hi-Fi, except this time, they dove headfirst into the rich and warm musical environs of Port Antonio, Jamaica and surrounded themselves with the island’s magic.

The Temple of I & I is a place of worship that exists only in our imagination; a place where all people are chosen people and the unity of living things is possible,” explains Hilton about the album’s title. “So much of the world is divided into tribes and belief systems that have imprisoned people’s consciousness and allowed a few to control the many. Culture can be a blessing and a curse. Humanity transcends tribe and culture. This has been a constant theme in Thievery Corporation’s message since day one”

Thievery Corporation is Eric Hilton and Rob Garza. The Temple of I & I is out now via ESL Records.
