Styx Mystic Lake Shakopee MN June 26 2016

By Matt Kennedy

Styx brought their 2016 North American Tour to Shakopee Minnesota. Styx played to a sold out crowd. Styx has released fifteen albums over the past 46 years. Five albums are certified multiplatinum. Styx came out and played a energy filled Rocking concert for over two hours. The talent of Styx is just unreal. It was absolutely so much fun watching the band members interact with the crowd and jumping around on stage like they were all kids again. Tommy Shaw told stories of the years past.

Styx opened the show with “The Grand Illusion” and played a sixteen song setlist ending with “Come Sail Away”. It was obvious the crowd was in dismay when Styx finished their regular set. The “Styx” chants began and got louder and louder. Styx came back out to the deafening cheer of fans for a two song encore of “Rockin‘  the Paradise” & “Renegade”.

The vocals of Lawrence Gowan were spot on all evening. Tommy shaw vocals and guitar skills were legendary. Todd Sucherman’s hard hitting drum beats were fantastic. James Young’s energy and stage presence was incredible.
