Staring Into Nothing’s “Big Brother”

Staring Into Nothing's "Big Brother"
“Big Brother” isn’t just a reality TV show about a bunch of people living in a house together and having their every move watched. As defined at Dictionary.com, the term “Big Brother is watching you” comes from a “warning that appears on posters throughout Oceania, the fictional dictatorship described by George Orwell in his book Nineteen Eighty-Four.” It’s also a blanket term now used to “refer to any ruler or government that invades the privacy of its citizens.” There are people that believe we are all being watched all the time, with satellites, through our computer screens and televisions, and more. Fact or fiction? Who knows.

The trio Staring Into Nothing has taken the idea of “Big Brother” and turned it into a well-written, and somewhat frightening, pop sounding blues song about the fact that the government may be more concerned with themselves than the safety of its people. It’s a deep song with some completely factual lyrics that will have you thinking deep thoughts about your safety and who may be watching the things you’re doing on a day to day basis, even if you’re genuinely a good person. The video on Youtube for this song includes the lyrics, and has lots of creepy and cool eyes!
