SLAYER’s “REPENTLESS” VIDEO NAMED 2015’S “BEST METAL VIDEO” IN LOUDWIRE’S 5TH ANNUAL MUSIC AWARDS

Wednesday, December 2, 2015 — Slayer’s brutal, blood-and-gore prison video clip for “Repentless,” the title track from the band’s most recent album, was just voted 2015’s Best Metal Video in the 5th Annual Loudwire Music Awards, beating out stellar entries from Slipknot, Iron Maiden, Mastodon, and Ghost.

The “Repentless” video, shot at the Los Angeles women’s prison Sybil Brand, features cameos by some of the horror film genre’s most iconic actors including Danny Trejo (“Machete,” “From Dusk Til Dawn”), Tony Moran (“Halloween’s” Michael Myers), Derek Mears (“Predators,” “Friday the 13th”) and Sean Whalen (“Men In Black,” “Halloween II”).  The video was produced by Felissa Rose and directed by BJ McDonnell, marking his first time directing a music video.  McDonnell directed the 2013 horror film “Hatchet III,” and his rich resume as a motion picture cameraman includes “Jack Reacher,” “Tomorrowland,” and “The Inteview.”

“We were up against some serious talent and great videos all around,” said McDonnell, “and I’m just overjoyed that we won.  Everyone in our cast and crew worked their butts off to have the video truly represent the song and the band, and we think we achieved that.  Working with Slayer has been a dream and I really hope to do it again soon.  Thanks to everyone who voted for ‘Repentless.'”

The “Repentless” video made its debut on 9-11-15 and has since logged more than seven-million online views.

Slayer’s 12th studio album Repentless (9-11-15/Nuclear Blast) is the band’s highest-charting U.S. release with a #4 Billboard debut, a Top Ten debut in 25 international territories, and media kudos like “‘Repentless’ is prime fucking Slayer…”/Metal Hammer, “…as unrelenting as their 11 previous…”/SPIN, and “Metal Album of the Year”/Guitar World.
