Slayer Live @ The National 2/24/2016

It had been 25 years since Slayer last played Richmond, VA, but on a night full of severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings in the area, fans came out for a sold out Show at The National featuring Carcass, Testament, and the legends themselves, Slayer.

Carcass got things started, bringing their melodic style of death metal all the way from Liverpool, England, they wasted no time in getting the fans warmed up and ready for the onslaught that was to come later in the evening.

Next up for the sold out crowd was the legendary Testament, one of the very first thrash metal bands to come on the scene in the ‘80s. Chuck Billy and crew show no signs of letting up after nearly thirty years of bringing their brand of thrash metal to the fans.

Kicking the night off with the title track of the band’s latest release “Repentless” the fans had no time to catch their breath as the band ripped thru classics like; “War Ensemble”, “Mandatory Suicide”, “Chemical Warfare”, “Season in the Abyss”, “Hell Awaits”, “South of Heaven”. “Raining Blood”, and closing the night out with “Angel of Death”. In their 35th year, and with Gary Holt taking over for the late Jeff Hanneman, the band remains one of the top acts to see live.
