Ajay Mathur’s Little Boat

Ajay Mathur's Little Boat

Ajay Mathur’s music offers a refreshing take on life and the struggles people go through. According to the press release, “the songs are inspired by Ajay’s own life experiences and are about growing stronger in the face of adversity, bouncing back after going through tough situations and coming out the other side stronger and better.”

You can hear this strength from the first song, “Here’s the Love.” It’s an honest song with lyrics that are straight to the point. It’s followed by a very melodic tune in “Forget About Yesterday.” The myriad of instrumental sounds stands out in this track, especially the harmonica.

Opposite of the positive beat of “Forget About Yesterday” is the title track, “Little Boat.” This song has a haunted feeling. Its slow waltz feel makes it a relaxing song, but their’s something dark and mysterious in the groove of the music.

Hailing from Switzerland, Mathur’s collection of songs on Little Boat, on Yakketeeyak Music, is a collection of songs that show the resilience of humans. Mathur’s vocals add to the feeling of each song. It’s an amazing album. Five stars for creativity and thoughtful lyrics.
