Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced today that Grammy Award-nominated Panic! At the Disco front man Brendon Urie will make his Broadway debut as ‘Charlie Price’ in Kinky Boots, beginning Friday, May 26 through August 6, 2017 at The Hirschfeld Theatre. Urie succeeds Killian Donnellyin the hit musical, which just celebrated its 4-year anniversary on Broadway.  He joins a cast that includes J. Harrison Ghee as ‘Lola,’ and Taylor Louderman as ‘Lauren.’
 
“I’m thrilled to be making my Broadway debut with this fantastic company,” Urie said. “I’m a huge fan of Kinky Boots and musical theatre, and am honored to be joining the cast.”
 
The winner of six 2013 Tony® Awards, including Best Musical, Kinky Boots features a Tony® Award-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Tony® Award-winner Harvey Fierstein and direction and choreography by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell. Kinky Bootstells the uplifting and heartwarming tale of Charlie Price, a young man reluctantly taking over his family’s struggling shoe factory and looking for a fresh idea. Later this week, Panic! At The Disco will wrap their Death Of A Bachelor Tour, a headline U.S. arena run in celebration of the success of their platinum-certified fifth studio album Death Of A Bachelor. The 35-city tour has also been a  commercial and critical success with media praising, “[Urie’s] stage presence was phenomenal” (NY Observer), and “Panic have reached the next level” (Forbes).
 
Death Of A Bachelor was released on January 15, 2016 via DCD2/Fueled By Ramen/Crush Music and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Death Of A Bachelor was the highest selling rock album and fourth-highest selling album overall in 2016, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Earlier this year, the Recording Industry Association of America honored Panic! At The Disco with the platinum certification of Death Of A Bachelor for exceeding 1,000,000 units sold. The album has also spawned RIAA certified gold singles “Hallelujah”, “Emperor’s New Clothes”, and “Death Of A Bachelor”. Death of A Bachelor was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2017 GRAMMY® Awards.
