Fans of Texan rockers Nothing More are eagerly waiting for any morsel to emerge from the band’s new album The Stories We Tell Ourselves. Since Nothing More’s breakout year in 2014 that included the release of their hugely popular self-titled CD and a slew of exciting and energetic live shows, fans can’t get enough of Jonny, Mark, Daniel & Ben.
Their latest single from the upcoming release was recently leaked on their Pledge Music website and had to be taken down. An apology was posted on the Pledge Music site today stating, “Hey guys – We’re sorry for the false alarm, but due to a technical glitch on the platform “Don’t Stop” was prematurely released. Pledgemusic had to take the link down for the time being.” Cue heartbreak for millions of people.
However, I happen to have an advance copy and got a chance to listen to the new tune and trust me – it will be worth the wait. After a thrumming electronic intro, vocalist Jonny Hawkins takes us on a lyrical ride with his unique vocal range. Just the first few lyrics drew me in and made me want to hear more: “Like a shotgun in a fist fight. Like a murder in the daylight. All the poison in the lead pipes. Open me up and watch the dogs fight.” Poetry punctuated by music that crescendos into an almost frantic rap that then crashes back down into a heavy dance groove. It’s a powerful, twisty anthem about not giving up – “keep digging deep” Hawkins belts. I’m even more excited for the new album if this is any indication of what we can expect.
More big news for Nothing More and fans…the band was just announced as a part of the lineup for the ultimate rock music cruise vacation – Shiprocked 2018.
