Marzi Montazeri is a guitarist, producer, songwriter from Houston Texas, Currently the guitarist for band Heavy as Texas. In the 90’s Marzi joined Superjoint Ritual with friend Phil Anselmo. He has recently teamed up with ‘Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens (Judas Priest,Yngwie Malmsteen) and released The Uprising EP.
The EP starts off with ‘11’ an instrumental track, then breaks into the powerful thundering drums and screaming guitar for the next heavy track “Monster Within”.
The title track “The Uprising” ft Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens on vocals, the track is one of my favourites, it comes together delivering powerful guitar riffs with chants of Rise Up in the background, Rippers screams are killer on this track. The next track “Without Warning’ has an alternative feel to it while other parts throughout the song are pure metal another great song on the EP. “Who is Alive” is the fifth track on the EP and is heavy from the start with explosive drums throughout the song and again Rippers killer vocals. The final track “Viento Del Espiritu” ends the EP as it begins with another instrumental track that could be used in a horror movie.
Overall from start to finish the EP has pure energy throughout with powerful razor edge riffs, masterful shredding, distorted tones, endlessly on the attack, with those piercing screams add up to very essence that is metal and is sure to bring out the headbanger in you.
