Louder Than Life Festival 2017 Day 2

Day two of Louder Than Life saw more beautiful weather as fans filled Champions Park for the final day of the festival. 

Sunday’s lineup consisted of Greta Van Fleet, Nothing More, Falling in Reverse, The Pretty Reckless, Lacuna Coil, In This Moment, Stone Sour, Rise Against, Incubus, and Prophets of Rage. 

Louder Than Life Festival 2017 Day 2Greta Van Fleet wowed the crowd over at the Loudmouth Stage. The four piece Michigan based band has been compared to the likes of Led Zeppelin with the amazing vocals of Josh Kiszka, and guitar riffs of brother Jake Kiszka. When many of the musicians performing during the day are standing side stage to catch the show you know you are witnessing something great in the making. The band is currently out on tour until December 30th when the tour wraps up in Grand Rapids, MI the tour is currently one of the hottest tickets to get with most of the shows being sold out. Louder Than Life Festival 2017 Day 2Nothing More released their latest album, The Stories We Tell Ourselves back in mid September, and their 35 minute set featured the new tracks “Let ’em Burn,’ and “Go to War’ from the album along with “Christ Copyright,” “Jenny,” and “Salem (Burn the Witch).” Nothing More’s current tour will see them out on the road thru the beginning of March 2018. Louder Than Life Festival 2017 Day 2Falling in Reverse made a stop at this year’s Louder Than Life festival. Touring in support of their 2017 release Coming Home the band played a 35 minute, seven song set. Only one song from the new album made it into the day’s setlist as the band played the latest single “Superhero.”

Louder Than Life Festival 2017 Day 2The Pretty Reckless will be closing out the year with a European tour with their Louder Than Life festival date being one of only a few chances for fans to catch them during 2017. The setlist consisted of all the fan favorites, “Follow Me Down,” “Oh My God,” “Make Me Wanna Die,” and “Take Me Down.”

Louder Than Life Festival 2017 Day 2In This Moment closed out the Zorn stage at this year’s Louder Than Life Festival. The band is currently out on tour for the third leg of their ‘Half God, Half Devil’ tour in support of their latest release Ritual. The tour will wrap up on November 12th in Saint Paul, MN. The short five song set featured three songs off of the new album Ritual. Highlights of the set were the new tracks, “River of Fire,” and “Roots.” Fans can follow In This Moment HERE.

Stone Sour, who many thought should have headlined the Loudmouth Stage on Sunday put on a 45 minute set which consisted of five tracks from their newest album, Hydrograd. The band will wrap up their U.S. dates on November 5th at this year’s Knotfest in San Bernardino, CA before heading to Europe to close out the year. Louder Than Life Festival 2017 Day 2Rise Against brought a high energy 11 song set to the Monster Stage. The fans crowd surfed their way to the front trying to get a chance to get close to all the action.

Louder Than Life Festival 2017 Day 2Closing out this year’s festival was the band everyone had checked as a must see, Prophets of Rage. The super group consisting of members of Rage Against the Machine, Public Enemy, and Cypress Hill took to the Monster Stage with a vengeance. A 14 song set consisting of a mix of RATM, Public Enemy, Cypress Hill, and a mix of new material from Prophets of Rage had the crowd up and off of their feet. Highlights of the set included “Living on the 110,” “Bullet in the Head,” “Kick Out the Jams,” which saw Tim McIlrath & Zach Blair of Rise Against join the band on stage, and the Audioslave cover of “Like a Stone” which was dedicated to the late Chris Cornell.

With over 60 thousand fans coming out for this years event, I think it’s safe to say that Louder Than Life will return to Champions Park in Louisville, KY for a fifth year.
