Rock and Roll Music Hall of Famer Joan Jett & The Blackhearts took the stage at the Badlands on Thursday night for the most diverse crowd I had seen in a long time.  Sold as an all ages show, it really lived up to that.  There were kids from age 5, dressed up in Joan Jett regalia, up to fans that are ageless.

She started with the anthem “Bad Reputation” in the 19 song set list, which included great classics, some from their newest album “Unvarnished”, and some great classic covers.  I imagine that not many of the young fans remember her movie “Light of Day” but that didn’t stop them all from jamming out to the song written by Bruce Springsteen.

Joan Jett still looks amazing and sounds incredible, the scratchy, growly sound that she made famous.  She engaged the crowd to sing-a-long and it seemed to drown out the music.  Getting up close to the crowd during the guitar solos drove the stage-side fans crazy!

A Rebel at heart, Joan Jett is still the epitome of “Punk Rock” at any age, and she still rocks the house when she plays. Check them out in an upcoming show as fellow Hall of Famers Heart and Cheap Trick join up with Joan Jett in the “Three For All” tour.
