Hinder Tour Rolls into the Machine Shop!

Oklahoma Rockers Make A Stop at the Legendary Venue!

The last time you probably heard Hinder was in the news was in November when they were involved in a horrific accident while on their tour bus in Cookeville, Tennessee.  That accident may have postponed a few tour dates, but it did not discourage the multi-platinum band from returning to the road.  Hinder made their way to Flint, Michigan in the new year with a new bus and a new frontman.  Joining them were up and coming Rio Grand Valley born and bred Sons of Texas.

Sons Of Texas made another stop in Flint to the joy of happy Michigan fans.  The band from  McAllen, Texas is comprised of Mark Morales, who was joined on stage by Mike Villarreal on drums, Nick Villarreal on bass, Jon Olivares on guitar, and Jes De Hoyos on lead guitar.  This is one band that blows me away by the amount of energy they leave on stage every time I see them (this was the third time) .   Singer Mark Morales’s incredible vocal range carried out over the sold out crowd.  The highlight of the set was the band’s hit single “Baptized In The Rio Grande,” the title track off of their debut album with Razor & Tie. The Machine Shop crowd loved them!  It’s amazing that this little-known Texas band has such a large following in Michigan!   The crowd was even packed full of people wearing Sons Of Texas t-shirts! I have said it before and I will say it again, Son’s of Texas is a must see band. In my opinion, Sons Of Texas stole the show on Sunday night.  I spoke to several people in the audience that felt the same way.

Sons of Texas Set List:

“Never Bury the Hatchet”
“Blameshift”
“Baptized In the Rio Grande”
“Slam With The Lights On”
“I’m Broken”  (Pantera Cover)
“Pull It and Fire”

Finally it was time for the headliner. This show had been delayed for the last couple months due to the tragic bus accident and the sold out crowd was ready for Hinder. Hinder’s new singer, Marshal Dutton, crashed the stage in his flashy yellow converse shredding his guitar to the 2008 hit “Use Me”. He was joined by Joe ‘Blower’ Garvey on guitar, Mark King on guitar, Mike Rodden on bass, and Cody Hanson on drums.  The tone was set and Hinder did not disappoint the sold out crowd in one of the nation’s most revered venues.

The energetically charged set included all of Hinder’s hits, including a moving cover of Stone Temple Pilots’ “Wicked Garden” – a sort of tribute to one of rock music’s fallen icons.  The sold out crowd sang along to most every song including the ever-so-popular power ballad, “Lips of an Angel”.  The Oklahoma City rockers closed their set with arguably their biggest hit, “Get Stoned” and left the crowd not only satisfied, but wanting more.

Hinder Set List:

“Use Me”

“What Ya Gonna Do”
