Henry Metal’s Metal O’Clock

While Henry Metal has only been around since March of 2017, Metal O’Clock is his fourth album. This master of creating metal music in a rush doesn’t skimp on the sound though. This new album has a tight metal background with melodic undertones and some tongue-in-cheek lyrics, from time to time. It’s tainted with plenty of explicit lyrics, but that doesn’t take away from the sheer metal joy you can get from listening to it.

Sometimes coming off a little Tenacious D, Henry Metal can stand up with the big boys of metal as well, including Iron Maiden and Megadeth. The press release said something about Metal getting flack for his style and being called a fake, but who cares what other critics have to say. Why not just listen for yourself?

What time is it? OK, probably not a great joke. So, the album starts with “I Don’t Care.” This song sounds like something that would sound great in a metal musical. It starts out pretty mellow, but it’s still metal. It kind of has a punk metal sound, actually. It’s like Meatloaf and Green Day meet Alice Cooper. To get an idea of the creativity on this album and the diversity of the music, the next song, “Odin”, has that epic metal sound, with a comedic edge. It tells a story with a metal backdrop, about Vikings (obviously).

The single that you really should check out though is “Thrash Your Head”, a true head-banging masterpiece. There’s an excellent video for this song available on Youtube. Flashing lights, cryptic makeup, and lots of drums, this video makes a great backdrop for a melodic metal tune that will have you hooked.
