Fu Manchu's Clone of the Universe

Sometimes referred to as hard rock, often called stoner rock and gearhead music, Fu Manchu has been kicking out the mellow jams for a few decades now. They formed in 1987 and Clone of the Universe marks their twelfth album release.

Hailing from Southern California, Fu Manchu has had a steady fan base over the years. Their songs are tight, amazing, and iconic. Any fan can quickly name a favorite, like “King of the Road.” There are bound to be some new favorites on this new release through At The Dojo, expected to drop on February 9.

Seven new tracks of pure awesome are launching Fu Manchu on a new tour, but let’s take a look at some of these new songs.

“Intelligent Worship” starts the album off with exactly what you’d expect from Fu Manchu. Full and distorted, the guitars seriously make the music here. It’s the catalyst for this sound. But the vocals, that is one of the things that always stands out with this band. They are unmistakable. This song will make you feel safe inside, with its upbeat sound.

“(I’ve Been) Hexed” drops the beat some, still recognizable as Fu Manchu. A song telling a story. A song that will make you nod your head continually. The stoner rock beat is strong in this one. “Live the same day, again and again.”

Each song keeps it real. There is nothing that goes off-track from the sound you’d expect from this band. They aren’t sell-outs. They stay true to their genre and their authentic sound. “Don’t Panic” stands out, with a “Kind of the Road” feel to it. The other four songs add some more psychedelic sounds and more as the album progresses.

This is an awesome album. From 1 to 10, it’s a lucky 13. If you’re a fan of Fu Manchu you need this. If you like rock, you need this. If you’re looking for an awesome album to check out, check this one out when it’s available early next month. It will be worth every penny.
