Frank Iero and the Patience's Keep The Coffins Coming EP

Frank Iero is no stranger to the world of punk yet his latest EP, Keep The Coffins Coming with his group, the Patience proves to be a pure punk rock masterpiece that truly embraces the spirit and soul of the genre.

Frank Iero and the Patience is a band made up of talented musicians with Iero on guitar and lead vocals, Evan Nestor on guitar/vocals and Matt Olsson on drums/vocals.  Iero best known for his time as guitarist in My Chemical Romance and post-hardcore band, Leathermouth, knows the ins and outs of the punk rock scene and what it takes to make great music.

On September 22, 2017, the band will be releasing their first EP, Keep The Coffins Coming on BMG/Vagrant Records.  They already have two albums under their belt, Stomachaches (2014) and Parachutes (2016) and this EP will add to their punk rock repertoire.

Keep The Coffins Coming is a 4 track EP which is full of surprises and embodies the true spirit of the punk genre. Its unique choices of songs and writings makes for a strong body of work that is diverse even with only a few tracks.

The EP starts off with “I’m A Mess”, a song that possesses the traditional fast paced punk sound.  It embraces all the great parts of what fans would expect from a true punk sound. Killer guitar playing, steady drum beats, great harmonies and a bass solo. Iero, Nestor and Olsson prove they are seasoned veterans and do not disappoint with the makeup of the song.

“BFF” is a slower rock song with a punk vibe.  With a theme of betrayal of a friend with lines such as “Best friends forever but not now”, there is a sense of melancholy in Iero’s voice.  The song does show some vulnerability and is well written with a topic many of the listeners can relate to.  What makes this song stand out is its passionate guitar solo; each note played adds to the story of the tune.

The next song on the EP is a fast paced, in your face pure punk song called “No Fun Club”. It is a short tune that stays true to the genre will have fans raising their fist in the air.

The final song on the album is “You Are My Sunshine”.  Iero and the Patience took a song that is loved by millions; kept its core sound; added a steady drum beat and guitar strumming rhythm that is soothing and gave it a punk vibe.  This version of the song is a stunning rendition of the original.

Frank Iero and the Patience have created an EP that is vast in its style.  With 4 tracks it makes the listener yearn for more after hearing just how diversely well written the tunes are.    The band defiantly embodies the sound and style of the great punk bands such as the Sex Pistols, Green Day, The Ramones and The Clash to name a few but have created a name of their own in the punk rock scene. Any true fan of the genre needs to have “Keep The Coffins Coming” in their collection.
