Evanescence At The Fillmore Silver Spring 11/18/2016

Written By: Anna Rhodes

On Friday, November 18th, Evanescence finally came back to The Fillmore in Silver Spring, Maryland. The line for the sold out show wrapped around the block. This show was on Evanescence’s first U.S. tour in years. Since their hiatus began in 2012, the band has only performed a few shows. This current tour is a short one, so there are only a couple of dates left.

Veridia, a four-piece band from Nashville, Tennessee opened up the show. They performed for about 40 minutes that night, getting the crowd ready for what was to come next. The band had a strong beat in all of their songs, and gained many new fans that night. They played a couple of new songs off of their upcoming album, set to release this spring.

As soon as the lights went down, Evanescence took the stage. They immediately began with “Everybody’s Fool,” off of their first album, Fallen, released in 2003. Their set included songs off of all three of their albums, including a brand new song, “Take Cover.” Due to many fans requesting it, Evanescence played “Disappear,” a b-side song off of their self-titled album, which released in 2011. Lead singer Amy Lee played piano on many of the band’s songs, including “Lithium,” “Your Star,” and “My Immortal.” That last one was a song that brought many fans in the venue to tears. The band ended their set with some of their most popular songs, including “Call Me When You’re Sober,” “Imaginary,” and the ever-popular “Bring Me To Life.” Evanescence then left the stage, but came back to perform an encore of a cover of Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana.” Evanescence only has two more shows left of their tour, but they are planning on releasing a vinyl box-set, consisting of all three of their studio albums, previously unreleased songs, and an art portofolio book. The Ultimate Collection is set to be released on December 9th, and can be pre-ordered here.
