Drive On Mak's Babylon

Drive On Mak is a powerhouse trio from Texas that has created a sound melding the musical experiences and interests of its three members. They call themselves, aptly, a blend of blues, rock, and punkabilly. This is a combination that has definitely made for a good sound.

Drive On Mak is Sean Makra on vocals/guitar, Jason Bilderback on bass, and Scott Feigh on drums. The album in review is their EP Babylon, which was originally released in 2015 but has been recently re-released.

The title track, “Babylon”, is a slow bluesy track that has a dark and dingy sound. The guitar sounds amazing on this song. It’s really got a great vibe. “Comin’ For You” is a blues track, that almost has a bit of punk to it. This song is filled out with some harmonica.

“Kiss Thy Hand” sounds like a 70s rock song. The distortion almost gives it a bit of a grunge sound too. While that song was a bit slow, the next track, “Outlaw”, picks up the beat and now you get to hear that punk/rockabilly influence. This is one of the best songs on the album. It’s a song that will have you swigging whiskey and slam dancing.

“Player” goes back to the bluesy side of things, but also has that 70s distortion that made “Kiss Thy Hand” sound so cool. “When I’m Gone” finishing off the track with some stellar harmonica playing and a rockabilly tune that will get stuck in your head.

This band has some great riffs and a cool blend of styles that makes this a five-star recording.
