Dope At The Throne Theatre 10/16/2016

Dope made a stop in Fayetteville, NC at The Rock Shop on October 16th for their Die MF Die Reunion Tour with support from Motograter and Flaw.

The Revolver sponsored show received support from three of my personally favorite North Carolina locals Fall River Massacre, Waking Tera and Against Their Will. Granted the show was on a Sunday after Hurricane Matthew, there was a pretty decent turn out of attendees.

This particular show was pretty interesting for me. I not only was able to attend as member of the media but as staff member for the show as well. Having two points of view was absolutely amazing.

The individuals that were part of this tour are some of the most hard-working and dedicated individuals I had a chance to meet and work alongside. From my co-host from Johnny Cutt’ Promotions to the stage manager and tour manager, it was amazing to see how hands on and how much work went into this show.

After the local openers, Motograter was truly a surprise. I never heard of Motograter prior to this show, I wish I had for sure. The only words that I can use to describe this group was indigenous and primal. The group of seven paint themselves in primal style paint and take the stage with such a presence that they are surely a group you wouldn’t forget.

Following Motograter, Flaw was an absolute crowd favorite. Flaw is known for being a very huge supporter of the United States Military, and that sure was apparent during their set. Chris the lead singer even sported a t-shirt design from a veteran-owned company called GruntStyle. The entire crowd was interactive and singing along with every song.

The main event was Dope themselves. Sporting an insane backdrop including a seven foot by seven foot LED light board accompanied by two smaller LED boards as well as the good ol’ drum riser set up. Dope energized the crowd with “Violence” as their opening number. Personally this was an absolutely perfect choice of song to get the crowd up and moving. Throughout their set they played an hour and a half set-list including crowd favorites and old school tunes. They rounded up their set with “Die, Bom, Bang, Burn, F***”, which had the crowd going absolutely crazy.

Dope is currently wrapping up their United States portion of the tour at the Whiskey A Go-Go in Los Angeles on October 30th before making a trip over to Russia. You can pick up their newest album “Blood Money, Part 1” directly from www.dopetheband.com.
