Deftones At Pier Six Pavilion 8/3/2016

Written By: Brandon Delano

A sold out crowd at Baltimore’s Pier Six Pavilion played host to Deftones on Wednesday night. Getting things started for the night was the three piece Spotlights from Brooklyn, NY followed by Sweeden’s Refused. Refused got the crowd ready with their energy packed style of hardcore punk. Closing out the night was the band that over 4400 fans had come out to see, Deftones. The band is currently touring in support of their fifth album “Gore”, which debuted at number two on the U.S. Billboard charts in April. Fans were treated to a twenty-one song set that included two encores. The nearly two and a half hour setlist featured a few songs from the latest release “Gore”, and consisted of fan favorites spread across their five album catalog. The night also marked a special occasion as it was guitarist Stephen Carpenter’s birthday. Chino dedicated the song “Prince” to him to celebrate the occasion as he left the stage and jumped the baricade to perform amongst the crowd. The current tour will continue thru September with the band making several festival appearances that include Riot Fest, Texas Mutiny, Houston Open Air, and Knotfest in both Mexico and Japan. Deftones will wrap up their year with a short tour of Australia. A complete list of tour dates, the setlist, and pictures can be found below.
