Crown The Empire is currently on the Vans Warped Tour, which makes it a great time for their new release to drop. Retrograde is hard rock fan’s dream. This album is very powerful, and definitely pays homage to some of the bands inspirations, like Linkin Park and My Chemical Romance. If you have not heard of Crown The Empire yet, and enjoy either of those other two bands, you definitely need to give this album a listen.

CTE is Andy Leo: Vocals, David Escamilla: Vocals, Brandon Hoover: Guitar, Hayden Tree: Bass, and Brent Taddie: Drums. The band has been putting out music for a good five years, and Retrograde simply adds to the proof of this band’s talent.

It’s difficult to pick a favorite song off this album, as each song lends it’s own sound and feel to the overall landscape. Some songs, however, do stand out more. The lyrical onslaught, and the magnificent harmonies of Aftermath will have you enthralled. Hologram is another stand out song as well.

If you like songs with a little more of a beat to them, that you can maybe move to rather than just banging your head, The Fear Is Real opens up sounding like an industrial song, bringing me back to some great dance club days. While the song does slow down some, it’s still a very intense, and somewhat creepy song. Definitely high on my list of favorites this album has to offer.

I would definitely rate this album with a solid 5 stars. It’s extremely creative, yet extremely metal. If you are a fan of post-hardcore metal, even a little bit, you need to check out CTE.
