Clutch At The National 12-29-2017

Clutch’s ‘Holiday Psychic Warfare World Tour’ made a stop at Richmond’s The National on Friday night. The annual week long tour also features the Mike Westcott Band, The Obsessed, and the Devin Townsend Project. The five date tour kicked off in Clifton Park, NY on December 27th and will wrap up in Columbus, OH on the 31st. 

 

Clutch At The National 12-29-2017Opening up the night was the Mike Westcott Band, the Washington DC area band features Mike Westcott on guitars and vocals, Chris Brooks on keyboards, Jay Turner on bass, and Jean-Paul Gaster on drums. The night’s set kicked off with “The Reaper” off of their latest album, Atomic Blues which was released back in August. To follow the band and purchase the album go HERE.

Clutch At The National 12-29-2017The Obsessed, Have been busy in 2017 releasing their first studio album in over twenty years, as well as reissuing their 1990 self-titled debut album as a deluxe package with the Concrete Cancer Demo. Having released their latest album, Transcendence back in 2016 the band has seen a heavy does of touring in support of the release. The night consisted of an eight song set with the first three songs coming from the latest album. Fans can purchase Transcendence HERE.

Clutch At The National 12-29-2017Closing out the night was the one and only Clutch. Every year Clutch goes out for a quick holiday run and this year Richmond was lucky enough to land one of the five dates. The band played roughly a 90 minute set for the sold out show at The National. Touring in support of their latest release, Psychic Warfare the nights set featured four songs from the album and closed out with “X-Ray Visions.” Fans were treated to a new song and its live debut as the band played “Greyhounds” during the 17 song set. 

2018 will see Clutch making the spring festival rounds with appearances at, Las Rageous, Welcome to Rockville, and Carolina Rebellion. Also look for the band to continue working on new material in the new year as well. To follow Clutch online go HERE.
