A huge crowd Jams into Diamonds Pub Concert Hall for a chance to see Death Metal Legends Cannibal Corpse, with Power Trip, Gatecreeper, and Cryptic Hymn.

There are few bands that have a legacy like Cannibal Corpse does in Death Metal. For going on 30 years, Cannibal Corpse has been at the front of the genre, in November they released their 14th album, Red Before Black, keeping with their usual distinctive sound and classic style.

The Diamond Pub Concert Hall stage is flooded with deep red lights that don’t fluctuate the entire evening. The huge “Cannibal Corpse” backdrop seems to be glowing in the lighting while Twisted Sister’s “Burn in Hell” blares over the venue loudspeakers.

Without much fanfare, bassist Alex Webster, drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz, guitarists Rob Barrett and Pat O’Brien along with George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher take their places on stage, immediately starting into “Code of The Slashers,” “Only One Will Die,” and “Red Before Black” from the new album and we are off in a brutal way.

Over the next almost 75 minutes Cannibal Corpse performs songs spanning their entire catalog including “Scourge of Iron,” “Devoured by Vermin,” “I Cum Blood” much to the delight of the many fans that had been moshing and thrashing since the first notes of the set.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Tonight Cannibal Corpse start their Encore set with “Stripped, Raped and Strangled” before closing the evening in a great way with huge fan favorite “Hammer Smashed Face”.

Providing the main support this evening was Dallas, Texas-based thrash metallers Power Trip.  As the house lights dropped, the intro tape is blaring Phil Collins doing “Easy Lover” which seemed to be the perfect way to bring the guys on stage.   The moshing and crowd surfing started almost immediately as Power Trip catapulted into a high energy set featuring rolling riffs and deep thundering bass notes.  Power Trip performed a number of songs from their latest album, Nightmare Logic including Firing Squad as well as the album title track before ending their set with an overpowering performance of “Manifest Decimation”.

With a stage awash in deep green lights, Arizona based Gatecreeper roll onto the Diamonds Pub stage with a purpose. Wasting no time, they drop into a hard set of death metal with several songs from their most recent album, Sonoran Depravation for Relapse Records that the crowd is clearly enjoying.

Opening the evening were Louisville based blackened death metallers, Cryptic Hymn.  Featuring Dave Palenske and Nathaniel Vowell on guitar, the demonic Josh Mumford on bass and hair whipping drummer Chris Smith, Cryptic Hymn tear thru a blazing set with songs from their Gateways EP that starts the evening off in a great way.
