A Breach Of Silence's Secrets

Award-winning powercore metal pioneers A BREACH OF SILENCE are back with the release of their third full-length studio album, Secrets. The album was produced by Fredrik Nordstrom (Bring Me the Horizon, Arch Enemy, In Flames) and mixed by Henrik Udd at Studio Fredman.

“Falling Away”, the opening track really hits hard right out of the gate. It is no wonder why the guys of ABOF chose this as single from the new album. I absolutely love how lead singer; Rhys Flannery approach on this track, it displays the dynamic vocal range that he brings to the table. “Ride or Die” is another track that has no build up and cuts right to the chase with dual guitar riffs and doesn’t leave the listener waiting. I must say though, there is a powerful guitar solo that gave me serious goosebumps right in the middle that is followed up with a brief breakdown.

Title track: “Secrets” has a stunning guitar intro that is accompanied by a simple string arrangement. Throughout the entire song, you get to hear this beautiful picking of the guitar that eventually turns into a full on electronic rhythmic sound. This is for sure my favorite track on the album and I am crossing my fingers that this is their follow-up single.

“Nightcrawler”, I must be honest, brought out my wannabe mosh kid side out when I listened to it for the first time. It powers in with such an anthemic approach and the lyrics “You will never take me, you will never break me, ever again”, just really brings out the powercore nature that the group is known for.

“Shameless”, for those of you who don’t know, is a cover from the Weeknd. The opening captures the essence of the original track, but powers in with the bands own interpretation of the song with hard-hitting riffs and drumming. Rounding out the album, is probably the biggest shocker and unexpected track on the entire album. “Sugar and Spice” roars in like an 80’s hair metal monster track but with a more modern approach. Even the lyrics, the guitar riffs and vocals are reminiscent of the hair metal genre. I would love to see how this song would translate live.

Overall, the guys of A BREACH OF SILENCE hit a home run with ‘Secrets’. It may sound like a strange comparison, but I feel like the guys of ABOF really have a Story of the Year-esq vibe, but with a harder metal approach, and for them it definitely works. I look forward to possibly catching a live show from these guys soon. Secrets will be available worldwide on 2/24/2017 is available for pre-order now from iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and directly with their label Eclipse Records.
