Sandwiched in between Saliva’s American tour ending December 15 and their big overseas tour starting January 30, Saliva’s lead singer, Bobby Amaru, went on an acoustic tour solo. His stop in Wilmington, NC offered a great intimate setting for his performance. In the small space, he was able to interact with fans who love his music, and those who would request for the standard “Free Bird.” He played acoustic versions of Saliva originals, as well as great covers to classic Rock and Pop songs. His vocal and guitar talent brought a great edge to the classics he covered, and with the small venue, it gave a vibe of a jam session amongst friends as everyone sang along.
Opening for Bobby was Wilmington-based 90’s Grunge cover band Just Yesterday with 2 of the 5 band members playing an acoustic set of the grunge classics with songs by Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Green Day and Weezer among others. The lead’s gravelly voice was perfect for those songs. You could close your eyes and almost feel like you were at a Nirvana show. Check them out at facebook.com/JustYesterdayMusic.
Bobby’s tour wraps up January 21 in Concord, NC, and Saliva will begin their tour January 30 in Frankfurt, Germany. Check out their facebook page for dates.
