Black Star Riders - Heavy Fire

Black Star Riders 3rd Album titled Heavy Fire is set for distribution February 3rd, 2017 on Nuclear Blast Entertainment. This new release will surely ignite the rock and roll fervor in both new and seasoned fans of this dynamic evolution from the iconic band Thin Lizzy. Black Star Riders do not disassociate themselves from the history of which they were born.Rather they entwine Past with Now. Make no mistake, this music stands on its own ensuring the listener Knows who they are rocking with while simultaneously making no apologies for triggering memories, recalling “the good old days” of undiluted rock and roll.

Front man and Black Star Riders co-founder Ricky Warwick delivers his lyrics with a crispy caramelization that won’t be denied.Meanwhile co-founder and internationally recognized guitarist Scott Gorham elicits sounds from his instrument that are purely his own. Make no mistake though, guitarist Damon Johnson, who also co-founded Black Star Riders, is front and center creating more memorable licks. These two remarkable guitarists bring the tradition of twin lead guitarists into the present.

If you haven’t just climbed out from under a rock, you’re very aware of their careers. Even if you aren’t aware that you’re aware, just trust that you’re aware.

Heavy Fire’s 10 song journey kicks off with the title track “Heavy Fire”, ensuring your awake and ready to go! Track number 4 “Who Rides the Tiger” is a perfect example of just why this band named themselves after a group of outlaws in the 1993 western movie Tombstone. It’s rowdy, untamed, irresistible and more than a little naughty. “Where is the woman that I love?” is the question at the beginning of “Cold War Love” and continues with the lyrics “Why don’t you come back to the war, I believe that what we got is worth fighting for”. The lyrics are both symbolic and relatable, not complicated yet built around complications.Bassist Robbie Crane opens the 7th track “Thinking About You Could Get Me Killed” with a rumbling promise and never breaks that promise. Drummer Jimmy DeGrasso keeps the beat, creates the beat, recreates the beat and maybe even invented the beat. Ok that’s just this reviewer’s completely biased unsolicited opinion.

An out-of-bounds list of Who’s Who in the world of music from all genres (i.e.Brother Cane, Pat Travers, Asia,The Almighty, Whiskey Falls,Faith Hill, Megadeth etc.) these musicians have congregated to bring us, the luckiest of mere mortals, this, their 3rd Album, HEAVY FIRE .
