Behind The Grey, Sluagh, Elisium, And Super Bob At Blue Fox Bar and Grill 8/18/2017

Written By: Eric Littman

Friday August 18th Blue Fox Bar and Grill got turned upside down and inside out. I know that has got to be the corniest opening line to a review you’ve ever read. Let me however explain Behind The Grey, Sluagh, Elisium and Super Bob a line-up that would make any promoter envious. Left every fan wanting more, needing more…..

Scranton PA was represented first in Behind The Grey. Not only did Behind The Grey give us tracks from there album Through The Grip of Tyrants they fed our appetite with some new material ”Treason” their latest single and title track from their newest EP Treason. Behind The Grey also brought home a point I have made before without intentionally doing so, and that is they are a complete band, and that their music provided by Will Perna (Guitars) and Daniel McDonald (Guitars), Mike Boniewicz (Drums) and Grant Williams (Bass) contours flawlessly the lyrics heard from Dom Vito.

From right down the street well kinda sort of was Sluagh pronounced (SLEW-AHH) a metal band out of Martinsburg, WV. Being a Metal guy this was just what I needed.  Sluagh produced a metal groove that was infectious. You could feel your head began to bounce and your body started to move. I instantly though this is a metal band that could hold their own with some of the greats like Trivium, or Lamb Of God and Gojira and many others.  Seth Wrye (Vocals/Guitar), Chris Jenkins (Vocals/Guitar), Mark Cave (Drums), and Madison Wrye (Bass) collectively Sluagh are a band that you need to watch for.

Elisium currently touring with Super Bob took the stage next. This three piece band from Fredericksburg, VA has, and always will be one of my favorite live bands. Their sound their stage presence is beyond as all the cool kids say ‘Tight’. To me it seems flawless. Nate Compton (Vocals/Guitar), Kirb Compton (Bass), Nathan Thomas (Drums) present their craft/music in a way that makes it seem effortless, this coming from a band that has a touring schedule that is right up there with some national touring acts. If you have never heard or seen Elisium then get out from under the damn rock your living and get with what’s up and that’s Elisium.

First let me preface by saying if you have never seen Super Bob then you are missing one of the highest energy, intensity filled shows that you will ever see. I often explain a Super bob like a P90X work out video in the sense that if you aren’t exhausted in a good way after their set then you’re probably at the wrong show. Matt Santoro (Vocals), Adam Smith (Guitar) and Drew Recny (Drums) left none of the fans disappointed August 18th at The Blue Fox Bar and Grill in Winchester VA. Hitting all of us like the juggernaut they are with “Pop Star” and their cover of LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It”. Super Bob was far from done with the crowd participation song “Cali” and of course “Ham” it was a set that literally made me stand back and just say ‘WOW’. Super Bob is a band that no matter how many times I see them I’m left speechless, and truly not for any negative reasons but for the fact of being simply in awe and completely blown away.

August 18th at Blue Fox as I said in the beginning was a show that did not disappoint any fans myself included, and one that I wish I could see over and over again…
