Blackened Death Metal Masters Behemoth unleash their wrath on Louisville metallers with Anagnorisis and Savage Master making a headline tour stop at Louisville’s Mercury Ballroom. Polish death metal masters Behemoth perform a punishing, over the top set for hungry metalheads.

On a stage saturated in deep blue lights with copious amounts of fog rolling in, the intro music for “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel” begins to roll as drummer, Inferno takes his place behind his huge, elevated kit.

Bassist, Orion; guitarist, Seth, and lead singer Nergal are next on stage, taking their place in front of their massive iron-worked microphone stands as the initial bass chords are struck starting us off in an epic way.

Over the next 75-minutes, Behemoth provides a visual spectacle on st age with a dramatic lighting display and the deep rhythmic grooves which show case their brutal power. Their set is comprised of songs spanning their entire catalog featuring “O Father O Satan O Sun,” “Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer,” and Messe Noire” from The Satanist along with “Decade of Therion” from the Satanica album.

Behemoth closes out tonight’s performance with “Chant for Eschaton,” which has the guys covered in blood while Orion has blood running from his mouth and down his face, as well as the hard and fast “Pure Evil and Hate”. The room loves it and gives an appreciative ovation.

It is great to see two strong local bands supporting Behemoth this evening. Providing primary support are black metallers Anagnorisis who more than succeed in raising the energy level in the Ballroom. With front man, Zachary Kerr r oaring all over the stage, guitarist Zak Denham, bassist John Mumford and Keyboardist Samuel Hartman drive through a deep and dark 45-minute set featuring several songs from their most recent release Peripeteia.

Louisville occult masters, Savage Master, open the show tonight. Clad in leather and spikes lead singer Stacey Savage rolls through a great set based largely from their latest album, With Whips and Chains. Creating an ominous visual on stage the band members, also decked out in leather and donning executioner’s hoods with chains and studs add to the mystique of the set. The band closes their powerful set with “The Ripper In Black” to araucous ovation. Savage Master is Stacey Peak (vocals), Adam Neal(guitar), Larry Myers(guitar), Brandon Brown (bass), and Zach Harris (drums).
