Aurganic’s Distant Echoes & Close Encounters

Aurganic is a project that was birthed by two friends, Michael Kossov and Leo Pisaq. They have known each other since high school and got their musical start in local punk bands. However, the collaborative project that is Aurganic is definitely not punk rock. It’s an experimental electronic sounding collection of intriguing songs with thought-provoking lyrics.

Aurganic got its start when these two came together again in 2010 to make some art rock with jazzy undertones. The music sounds like The Postal Service, at times. At other times they have a sound reminiscent of bands like Incubus.

Michael sings and plays guitar, keys, bass, synth, and does programming, while Leo’s jobs are synth, programming, engineering, and post-production. The band is rounded out with Joey Aguirre on drums.

Distant Echoes & Close Encounters is available on Bandcamp and Amazon. If you enjoy music that is relaxing but full of jazzy sounds and deep vocals, this is the right album for you. Some of the songs on this nine-track album have a faster beat, while others are slow and calming, like “Invincible (In The Shadows).” This is an album sure to please fans of post-rock and synth-pop genres. It’s a joy to listen to, and would even please music fans that are just looking for something different to listen to. It sounds amazing, even though it’s a completely independent release. Five stars, by far.
