Art Of Dying once again delivers an incredible album with their latest EP Nevermore, which dropped officially on September 2nd.

Based out of Vancouver, British Colombia the hard-rock band formed in 2004 and is made up of Jonny Hetherington (lead vocals), Tavis Stanley (guitars), Cale Gontier (bass), and Cody Watkins (drums).

Nevermore starts with an incredible intro with the track, “All Or Nothing”. The lyrics are absolutely motivating a powerful. Jonny’s iconic vocals drive this track with pure determination.

“Torn Down” features a beautiful set of intricate guitar riffs that hit you right at the beginning. The track is a true anthem for those who have had difficult or tragic pasts. At the same time, it is an uplifting track that shows the proverbial “light at the end of the tunnel”.

“Nevermore” really is a nice toned down track after two absolutely heavy hitters. This particular track really frames Jonny’s vocals in such a dynamic range. From the grit right into a ballad like chorus. This track has a bit of everything. I definitely see this one as a ‘radio hit’. Right at the end the song hits you with an absolutely beautiful guitar solo, then abruptly drops off making the listener hanging on.

“Seen This Coming” to me is the epitome of a ‘putting up with it’ mixed with ‘break up’ kind of song. The mixture of the two ideas really make the song more unique than the traditional angry rock song.

One of the more unique tracks to the EP, “Paradise” is more on the alternative side of the rock universe than hard rock. After listening to it a few times, it has the grit of a traditional Nirvana song, but brought into the modern day. Kurt Cobain would be proud of this one.

Just as incredible as the intro song, so is the song that we close out the EP with. “Cages” has an amazing intro drumming intro performed by Waktins. The track has such a great middle section that breaks down the emotion of the song. The lyrics, “you can’t stop me now” truly tie this song to the rest of the EP.

Art Of Dying has truly found their sound with this EP. They are truly a force to be reckoned with and will be earning their place amongst the mainstream. You can buy “Nevermore” on iTunes or stream on Apple Music and Spotify. Check out Art of Dying on tour through the end of October with Letters from the Fire and more!
