The drawback of being a music lover is the overwhelming abundance of material out there to listen to, but not always having enough time to really “hear” it.  There’s something thrilling about hearing a band for the very first time and instantly knowing you’re about to put the record on repeat for a while, and just go with it.  Another Lost Year created exactly that type of record.  Clinton Cunanan, Adam Hall, Jorge Sotomarino, and Nathan Walker have brought a hard-hitting sound to the alternative metal/rock scene.

Another Lost Year is gearing up for an eventful month having just finished crafting their newest album Alien Architect.  The hardworking group’s latest material recorded on Mirage M’hal Records/EMP/eOne is scheduled for release June 10th just in time to commence a headlining tour that will kick off in their hometown Charlotte, NC.

From the very first track, this album was designed to hook the listener.  The intro features a powerful clip from HBO’s “Newsroom”, which captures the essence of freedom, right before catapulting into “Wolves”.  This track truly sets the tone of the album with its heavy beat, and slightly menacing lyrics.   “Run the Tank Out” is a playful song about making memories and offers some of the same qualities as their previous single, “Cop Car”.  However, the band’s softer side shines through the harmonizing track, “He Took Beauty Away”.

If the amazing guitar, bass and drumming in this record weren’t already enough to perk up your ears, Cunanan’s vocals add something seriously special to the group’s style.  The singer’s voice is thick and bluesy with an impressive range that moves like honey. Definitely the type of top-shelf vocals that stand alongside some of the greats.  Lyrically, ALY’s tunes are almost nostalgic because they tell a story where each song flows perfectly into the next.  Alien Architect is filled with fist-pumping determination and character.  Pick up a copy and experience it for yourself.
