Adam Gontier made a stop at the legendary Machine Shop in Flint, MI on Saturday June 18th on his solo acoustic tour. Eager fans lined up at the door as early as 2:30pm for the change to snag front row access for this special show. When the doors opened at 7pm, there was a huge rush to secure the front rail spots to get the best view.
The thick, almost sold out crowd eagerly waited for Gontier to take the stage. When he finally stepped out, the crowd absolutely roared! The enthusiasm was contagious. He opened up his set with the Phil Collins cover “I Don’t Care Anymore”, immediately causing the entire crowd to belt along word for word. .
Gontier focused on his music and sang with mostly closed eyes, allowing his soothing voice to carry throughout the lounge. When it came to showing off his wonderful acoustic talent, Gontier was all business and kept the small talk to a minimum.
Fan interaction was strong this night! One of the highlights of the show was when Gontier invited up a fan to propose marriage to his girlfriend! She said yes!
Gontier was also joined on stage by his cousin Cale Gontier (Art of Dying) for a few songs including; “Trying to Catch Up with the World” and Pearl Jam’s “Release.” Cale acts as Adam’s tour manager and his right hand man by making sure the show ran smoothly.
“I Hate Everything About You” was the perfect song for a strong close to the set. The thick crowd went crazy and sang along with every word. After the last note was over and the band was done, the entire crowd just stood there waiting for more.
Flint, Michigan was only one of a handful of stops on Gontier’s exclusive acoustic tour. The crowd unquestionably loved it, and Gontier was very well received. Flint sure knows how to have a good time and can’t wait for the next show.
