After a ending 2014 on a successful high which featured 35 dates in support of In This Moment’s Black Widow Tour, 3 Pill Morning has been focusing on their forthcoming record which is due to hit shelves in early to mid 2016.  The band took time away from the studio to play in several summer festivals, most notably the Loudwire Music Festival in Grand Junction, Colorado.  3 Pill Morning, once again, had the itch to tour recently and put together a little October Midwestern run to support their newly released single “Bottom of the Barrel”.  Friday night’s stop brought 3 Pill Morning to The Music Factory in Battle Creek, Michigan.  Local support came from 86 The Evil and LookOut Below.

The Minneapolis based four piece, consisting of Jeff Stebbins (vocals), Ryan “Riplee” Lee (bass), Jon Stephenson (guitar) and Trent Laugerman (drums),  promised a twelve song setlist and 3 Pill Morning delivered it with the passion and energy that we have come to expect from them.  From the opening verse of “Crumbs” forward it was obvious that frontman Jeff Stebbins had come to entertain the West Michigan crowd.  Stebbins, dressed in his signature suit and bow tie, jumped around and captured the audience’s attention almost immediately.  Stephenson and Lee bounced around the stage while hammering their guitars.  Laugerman was a beast behind his kit.  3 Pill Morning continued through their set with familiar songs like “Nothing’s Real”, “I Want That For You” and “Drive By Lies” before they dropped the new single, “Bottom of the Barrel” on the crowd.

Stebbins reminded Battle Creek that the band is in the midst of a Pledge Music campaign to not only help fund the recording of their new record, but also to allow the fans of the band a chance to participate in the recording of the record as well as be in an upcoming 3 Pill Morning video.  Other packages in the campaign include merchandise, hanging out with the band, acoustic shows at the fan’s house and much more.  The band then launched into “Bottom of the Barrel” showcasing an overt effort to harden the sound of the band.  “Bottom of the Barrel” is significantly heavier and grittier than the historical 3 Pill Morning sound.  The crowd reacted positively to the new song and the band recognized it.

3 Pill Morning pounded out three more of their classic tunes in “So Good”, “Take Control” and “Revolution” before giving The Music Factory a special treat in the form of another new song! “Electric Chair” was a fast-paced and in your face tune with plenty of power and speed.  All four members of the band were energetic and visibly having fun with the new song.  Stephenson and Lee were continually moving around the large stage while Stebbins interacted with the fans.  Several people in the front row were fist-bumping Stephenson as “Electric Chair” came to a close.

With three songs to go, anyone who knew 3 Pill Morning also knew that they saved their three most successful hits for last.  The band’s first ever single, “Rain” had the crowd moving just the way it always does.  “Loser” followed and kept the energy level high before the band closed with their most successful YouTube song, “Skin“. It was obvious that the crowd wanted more, but 3 Pill Morning had left their soul on the stage following the twelfth and final song of the show.

The members of the band hung out at their merch booth and took pictures with a lot of people.  They signed shirts, cd cases and whatever else people asked them to sign.  3 Pill Morning stayed inside the club until the last person was finished talking to them.  This band is known for giving a lot of credit to their fans and they have no problem giving back to them however they can.
